Maragogype

Rare quality from the land of a thousand volcanoes

Our latest coffee rarity has just arrived: Dallmayr MARAGOGYPE – a highland coffee made from remarkable beans. The leaves of the Maragogype coffee bush are darker and broader than in other varieties. It bears far fewer cherries, but they are enormous. The Maragogypes, as they are called, have an elongated form and are around a third larger than conventional Arabica beans. This is why they are also known as elephant beans.

This coffee variety flourishes in Nicaragua’s fertile volcanic soil – altitudes of 1,200 to 1,500 metres are ideal. The yield is lower, but that also makes MARAGOGYPE so precious. So be sure to take plenty of time for our naturally mild coffee rarity with its light citrus note.

You will find this rare highland coffee in the coffee department of our delicatessen, freshly roasted daily to preserve its aroma.
